“You’re still an apprentice Gamzee, come back when you’re officially licensed.”
“No, Karkat, Gamzee is right look at this,” Porrim said, showing an impressive full sleeve photograph to her coworker.
Karkat tried to resist the urge to roll his eyes as he took the book. The tattoos in it WERE good, and there was a decent amount of variety, but still…
“I can pierce too,” Pyrope then said.
Karkat sighed. That was it. Porrim was their only full time piercer at the moment; Nepeta was only part time.
“…fine. If you pass my test, you can work here.”
“Name it.”
“You have to tattoo me.”
Terezi smirked.

A few hours later, Karkat and Terezi emerged from the back room. There was a wrapping on Karkat’s left forearm. Their faces were flushed, and hair messy. Gamzee opened his mouth.
“Say one word, and you’re fired.”
“One word.”
“Dumbass.”
Nepeta giggled while she took money from a tattooed woman with glasses in exchange for some industrial bars.
“Pyrope didn’t say she had super senses or synesthesia.”
“They’re not super senses. When you lose one sense, the others get stronger. And synesthesia is still a disability. All it does is let me know is if you’re bleeding everywhere. Otherwise its something I can’t describe.”
“So how did you do it,” Porrim asked, looking at the photo of the stylistic crab that was now on Karkat’s arm, “magic?”
Terezi chuckled.
“No,” she replied, “I use the vibrations from the tattoo machine. Plus I can still technically see. Legally blind doesn’t mean completely blind.”
“THEN WHY DIDN’T YOU SAY THAT IN THE FIRST PLACE???”

The board members want to know the pet’s genetic make-up because it has a long list of dogs that “are not permitted to reside in the building based upon documented information regarding their tendency towards aggressiveness,” the policy says.
The list of outlawed pooches includes such pint-sized breeds as a Maltese or a Pomeranian.
“It’s like dog racism essentially,” one barking-mad dog-owning resident said of the new policy. “It’s beyond offensive, it’s intrusive.”
