And a note on terminology: "feedism" and "feederism" are generally used interchangeably, but some people prefer, "feedism" because a popular strain of anti-feed(er)ism discourse paints all feeders as manipulative, abusive predators and completely ignores the fact that feedees have choice and agency in their lives and these scenarios, and the fact that many feedees are the ones who want to gain weight and bring it up with their partners first. "Feederism," these folks argue, places an undue amount of focus on the feeder and ignores the feedee's existence and their role in the relationship. For strictly meme-related purposes, both terms are acceptable)

I don’t outright DISlike this kind of mpreg. I’ve read and written and enjoyed it a lot before, actually? but… on the other hand, these days, I infinitely prefer for mpreg to star trans characters. which doesn’t rule out the presence of sci-fi or magic or Omegaverse stuff or whatever. as long as the pregnancy itself isn’t magical or science fiction-y.
*: Canonical Different Gender Love Interests. the usual term is usually CFLIs (Canonical Female Love Interests) because it’s used to discuss the way that dudeslash fandom dismisses female characters and perpetuates misogyny. But I needed a term that could be used to refer to the monosexism and bisexual erasure that goes on in both dudeslash and femslash fandom circles, hence… CDGLIs.

reading - even reading “good books,” even reading a lot - does not actually prevent you from being an asshole. it also does not automatically make you interesting, sorry. do you know how many boring-ass book-lovers i have met in my life? so many, oh god, so many. and meanwhile: some of the funniest smartest most fundamentally decent and interesting and sharp and wise people i know don’t read, like ever, and definitely not fiction.
okay, and can we talk about that for a second, how “reading” always means fiction and maybe poetry, and no one in these pieces - OF WHICH THERE ARE WAY TOO MANY - seems to think maybe your mind or whatever can be expanded by, hell, i don’t know - anthony lukas’s common ground, six hundred pages of basically sociological journalism, all fact, no prettiness, and a better education than most classes i’ve taken. high on my list of books to read if you want to expand the fullness of your worldview. which i find disconcerting, the idea that made-up things can teach us more than spending more time (even at the distance of the written world) with real actual human beings. and i’m not saying they can’t, or that for some people it doesn’t work that way - it’s the way the assumption is automatic that bothers me.
bothers me like another self-congratulatory nerd trope - I SAY THIS AS A GIANT NERD WHO LOVES ME SOME MODERNIST FICTION AND IS REALLY AWKWARD AT PARTIES - of hating on people who spend most of their college energies on partying and don’t care about their education. like, who gives a fuck how people spend their time. and why is holing yourself up in your room with books - A TOTALLY ACCEPTABLE CHOICE I DO NOT MEAN TO CAST ASPERSIONS ON - considered inherently more valuable than socializing? making friends? some people claim fiction as a lifeline, and it is great that they have a lifeline. other people rely on the girl who held your hair back the time you puked in the garbage can outside the science center. some people have both!
i mean you guys: CAMILLE. PAGLIA. HAROLD. BLOOM. i rest my case.

(My two-year-old little sister is walking around the house, singing.)
Sister: “Frére Jacques, Frére Jacques, Dormez-vous? Dormez-vous? I don’t know the words here! I don’t know the words here! La, la, la. La, la, la!”
(She sings this several times before ‘Row, Row, Row Your Boat’, which she ends with ‘Life’s a butter dream!’.)

yeah see this is my (and a lot of other people's) main issue with sj: we've been hearing the same ~critiques, arguments and faulty "analysis" for years on end
and then when you say anything about it you're dismissed as some sort of edgy anti-sj person, bigot or kneejerk reactionary

“Once I was Googling myself to find an article I’d heard was published,” she writes. “I typed ‘tori spelling’ into the search field and a bunch of options came up. One of them was “tori spelling net worth.” Curious, I clicked on it. Google thought I was worth fifteen million dollars. Fifteen million dollars! I didn’t have one million. We had some income here and there, but no savings apart from our retirement accounts.”
Explaining that she has a “terrible habit of going into denial” about financial matters, Spelling was forced to confront the severity of her situation . But instead of cutting back, she continued to spend big.
Spelling says, “It’s not my fault I’m an uptown girl stuck in a midtown life. I was raised in opulence. My standards are ridiculously high. We can’t afford that lifestyle, but when you grow up silver spoon it’s hard to go plastic.”
