Some advice for when you’re writing and find yourself stuck in the middle of a scene:
kill someone ask this question: “What could go wrong?” and write exactly how it goes wrong switch the POV from your current character to another - a minor character, the antagonist, anyone stop writing whatever scene you’re struggling with and skip to the next one you want to write write the ending write a sex scene use a scene prompt use sentence starters read someone else’s writing Never delete. Never read what you’ve already written. Pass Go, collect your $200, and keep going.
jst for the record i dnt give a shit abt any of the cases that middle class white stoner discourse makes for weed being legalized. im tired of people without anxiety touting it as an absolute miracle cure and i dnt wanna hear about how it’s apparently better for you than alcohol
basically if ur argument for marijuana legalization/decriminalization is anything other than “the war on drugs is contrived and used frequently in racial profiling as a means to throw black and latinx people and poor people into jail for non violent crime” then your argument is probably bs and i dnt want to hear abt it

Me, on Masterchef: *puts plate in front of the judges*
George Calombaris: What have you made for us today?
Me: it’s salt and sugar mixed together
Matt Preston: Incredible! What you’ve managed to do is distill this dish into it’s most basic, elemental flavours by thinking outside the box. It’s deconstructed cooking in a way we’ve never seen before on masterchef and I love it.
George Calombaris: This isn’t a dish that I would serve in one of my restaurants, but what I love is that you’ve managed to put yourself on the plate for us today. You’ve highlighted the two most popular flavours found in western cooking and made them the heroes of the dish. I’ve gotta hand it to you because this is what masterchef is all about and if you keep cooking like this you just might win this whole competition. Great job!
Gary Mehigan: I’m in between the other two judges. Matt comes off as a bit of a high-minded snob whereas George is like some hyperactive kid who somehow became a famous chef and tv personality even though one of his favourite words to use when describing food is ‘yummy’. I’m kind of boring but fairly sensible and the most similar to a normal adult of the three of us which makes the show more relatable to viewers. Thats why they hired me. Usually I sit in the middle.
Me: thanks so much guys this whole experience has been a dream come true. you’re all heroes of mine and to stand here while you say nice things about a dish that I cooked… wow. it’s an absolute privilege.
"The family had a subscription to National Geographic magazine,” it read. “… Joshua Dolezal showed [redacted] his collection of photos of topless and naked African women.”
It continued: “Joshua Dolezal was turned on by the black body and was curious about black women sexually.”
..how is this proof he molested a black boy tho? dolezal pls
A new entry in my canon that's coming out soon-ish features a relationship between two guys that is pretty much all but outright stated by the creators to canonically be a homosexual relationship. Awesome! The pairing isn't my cup of tea dynamic-wise, but I still think it's great that canon went in this direction.
Cue someone on Tumblr making a post viciously attacking this pairing and *gasp* claiming that one of the guys should be with this female character instead. The post was so ridiculous and over the top that I had a hard time believing that this person wasn't a blatant troll.
And now there's a defense force for aforementioned canon pairing posting replies to this person saying how s/he is terribly homophobic and disgusting. Okay, sure, this person's an asshole and they asked for it. But as fans get more and more riled up about challenges (sincere or not) to this pairing, I've been hearing about a growing trend of people shouting down others who are meh about this canon for other reasons because now everyone has to support this canon for the pairing! This is important!!!
It's just a few people now... but I have a feeling this is only going to get worse as time goes on. The canon isn't even officialy released yet. Why does fandom have to ruin everything :(
Just a general post bought up by recent Steven Universe talk, but also that’s just a fandom thing I’ve noticed in general?
There can be a lot of discourse in regards to a character being abusive or not, and it can definitely be upsetting to see a character accused of that.
But please also remember… that most of the people who bring up that stuff are people who are see it and are reminded of their own abuse they went through.
And it can be mega invalidating to have an immediate argument thats just. No see they’re just being a COMPLEX CHARACTER! People are complex, most abusers have backstories that explain to where they got today. That does not stop it from being abuse. Having motivations and reasons does not stop it from being a shitty action. And a lot of people who have experienced abuse often have troubles with ‘well, they had their own problems’ or ‘well i provoked it’. And all this is amplified a bunch when the abuser is an adult figure.
I’m not taking a particular stand with this post, but please remember this context when debating this particular point.
I love Pearl as a character, but as someone who’s been abused a lot of fandom discussion is very uncomfortable and I know a lot of others who feel the same.

Possible splits in some universes, maybe leaking into ours. Prophets at high power. Godly stirrings; some arise renewed, some are put to rest, and some are born. Massive changes on individual and universal levels. The catalyst that will lead to new life and fresh energy. That, and I’ll be at Portcon.
