honestly (and i may be reading into it, so take this with a grain of salt), but it almost sounds like they LIKE having a friend with an MI because it gives them the opportunity to be progressive and helpful or w/e like 'i'm such a good friend and person b/c i am SO understanding!' like they're in it for themselves and not because they want to be there for you

i've been getting that feeling too tbh. they keep pointing out that they're doing these things because they UNDERSTAND and because they are a GOOD FRIEND and it's like no, if you were a good friend you would respect my need to be left alone.
