n 2013 Archaeologists digging in an ancient Peruvian tomb have unearthed a skeleton, confirming that the mysterious people known as the Moche were ruled by a succession of queens that presided over a brutal and ritualistic society. They were ruled by women, priestesses who also acted as queens. "This find makes it clear that women didn't just run rituals in this area but governed here and were queens of Mochica society," said project director Luis Jaime Castillo, according to the Associated Free Press. "It is the eighth priestess to be discovered," he added. "Our excavations have only turned up tombs with women, never men."

oh wikipedia you're so neutral with that "brutal and ritualistic" wording

do u think softy is just dealing with catholic guilt and trying really hard to get back into catholicism even after what she thought about being raised in it and trying too hard to shape it to her beliefs about feminism

(Anonymous) 2013-09-02 12:24 am (UTC)(link)
i feel so lucky bc i was raised catholic but don't really have any of the guilt a lot of other people seem to.

(If you want to argue, as Eve Tushnet argues, that gay people don’t love each other in the same way straight people do, then do so - be honest about how you truly don’t believe that gay people are capable of love.)

no uh they believe you're deluded about loving them, they believe you'd be perfectly capable of loving a person of the opposite gender if you just ~saw the light~

ugh last night i was so annoyinggg

today some guy from my floor came up to me and was like "are you mad at me??" and i was like "uhh why would i be mad at you?" and he was like "last night people kept telling me to check on you because you seemed a little like, tipsy, but then i don't know if i insulted you or you got annoyed at me" or something

just how embarrassing

i think the catholic church's "hate the sin, not the sinner" line is almost more harmful than the churches who just openly hate gays

bc it teaches that if you could just successfully hate this one part of you that you can't change enough to block it out of your life then you can be saved.

Devout neo-Orthodox gay Christian at a liberal seminary, part of an open and affirming RCA church. I am an adult convert to Christianity, and also a faith organizer, sometimes. I care deeply about my husband, anti-capitalist thought, religion against empire, poor people's movements, community, and catastrophic climate change.

Dr. King lost a lot of respect for effectively using children as shields. If you can't consent to sex, you can't consent to being beaten and hosed. It was contrary to the idea of never harming to decrease harm. Most criticisms of him are unwarranted,

but not that one.
