i think the catholic church's "hate the sin, not the sinner" line is almost more harmful than the churches who just openly hate gays
bc it teaches that if you could just successfully hate this one part of you that you can't change enough to block it out of your life then you can be saved.
i wanted to be a nun for a while bc i was like, "this will solve everything!" like i actually had picked several convents that i was interested in and was corresponding with two of them.
and then i was like, "wait, i'm a lesbian, this is a terrible idea."
it also gives straight catholics an excuse to say they're not homophobic, they just think the acts of gay love are gross, and they love the people enough to pray that they are cured~
