good point, i will tell u. this idiot was really mad bc AFTER my boss took the time to explain his health insurance program, he didn't understand it. but instead of saying he didn't get it, he signed up for it anyway. and today he called complaining about how he was being charged for the FULL AMOUNT of a doctor's visit rather than just a $30 co-pay. i tried to explain to him the difference between his HSA and a regular PPO, but he kept saying "then that's not health insurance! i have health insurance! i get co-pays!" and he was getting really cranky and mean over the phone, so i said i'd have my boss call him and talk to him about it, but that he wouldn't get a call until monday.

so he calls later in the afternoon FURIOUS!!!! bc my boss hasn't called him, and he thinks his questions are more important than w/e he's doing and he needs an answer NOW bc he doesn't think it's fair

so i had to explain that my boss was at a birthday party with his son, who has fucking leukemia. and the guy was like "well i don't care! you're my broker! you're supposed to help me!"

it kept going and going and eventually i had to hang up on him bc he was being downright abusive

i have noticed that men are more likely to sign up for shit they don't understand and then get mad at you for it later

glad u were able to hang up on him

he was... i don't know what the right term is. he sounded very very country and it was actually hard for me to understand him sometimes. i get the feeling he might have been from the south.

f it cut me off. he sounded like that anyway, and he was getting really angry that i was trying to slowly explain it to him. and that i kept saying "do you understand?" BECAUSE HE OBVIOUSLY FUCKING DIDN'T

when i was first trained as a phone customer service rep, we were told that it was part of our job description to deal with angry people and we were not allowed to to disconnect just because they're pissed. but if they become personally abusive, we are allowed to let them know we are terminating the call and then hang up.

so i'm working some place else and i was covering the phone for all of 15 minutes when some dickass calls yelling and screaming about god knows what and demands to speak to a manager. well i'm a manager but i wasn't high enough up there for him i guess so i put him on hold and tried to find someone else for him. but ofc they weren't answering me on the phone or the radio so when it rang back to me i picked it up and tried to tell him that it would be another few minutes. but he was already flying off the handle and then, apropos of nothing, he decides that I'M the b*tch, so i told him, "sir i'm going to end this call now, when you feel like not being so rude you can call back and i'll be happy to help you." and i hung up. and then my phone operator got back from break so i left so idk if he did call back, but i never heard from the higher-ups about it so i assume he didn't.

i don't understand and never will understand why people carry so much anger with them when they talk to other people. it's just... ugh. i'm sorry you had to deal with that.
