deletion thread

the eternal mod debate

is it racist to delete the swastikas picture or anti-semitic to not delete it?

(Anonymous) 2012-05-16 03:22 am (UTC)(link)
this isn't really a debate

(Anonymous) 2012-05-16 03:22 am (UTC)(link)
depends on the context

(Anonymous) 2012-05-16 03:23 am (UTC)(link)
y would it be racist to delete them?

oh wait i answered my own question nvm

but swastikas have kind of evolved from their original symbolism for a major part of the world like idt the fan in that tswift picture was like YEAHH HINDUISM when he painted that on his tshirt

(Anonymous) 2012-05-16 03:25 am (UTC)(link)
nayrt but by "a major part of the world" you mean the western world, correct?

(Anonymous) 2012-05-16 03:28 am (UTC)(link)
yeah i worded that badly, i apologize for it; i should have said "large part of the western world"

(Anonymous) 2012-05-16 03:30 am (UTC)(link)
that's the problem though

a lot cultures that used the swastika still use it the way it was originally used and the nazi version hasn't affected the way it's perceived all that much

(Anonymous) 2012-05-16 03:31 am (UTC)(link)
that's v true nona, i agree w/you

probably all comes down to the context in which it's used igss?

(Anonymous) 2012-05-16 03:32 am (UTC)(link)
yeah ia

probably posting various swastikas on anon is a bad idea because a lot of anons DO come from the western world where it's taken on a whole different and horrific meaning

(Anonymous) 2012-05-16 03:32 am (UTC)(link)
we're not in that part of the world though

(Anonymous) 2012-05-16 03:33 am (UTC)(link)
well some of us are

but like i said to the other anon

probably posting various swastikas on anon is a bad idea because a lot of anons DO come from the western world where it's taken on a whole different and horrific meaning
