idk really. i was thinking of doing more than one country. maybe european capitals? i've done paris. but french is the only other language i know any of

maybe i'll just do a weekend somewhere and if it goes okay i could do more next summer

any advice on doing it while not being very outgoing?

it depends on whether or not you actually want to meet/talk to people. if you don't want to, avoid youth hostels or stick to single ensuite rooms. if you want to eliminate possibility of having to ask for directions, make sure you know your way before you go (should be very easy with google maps, i look up the places of interests in relation to my accommodation and print out quite a few city maps to carry with me)

as a woman sometimes u would attract unwanted attention, avoid bars, at least stick to the main ones in touristy areas.

the key is planning. i find that if i have everything prepared i feel less nervous about foreign surroundings. if you have to interact with people for information, hotel/hostel staff and tourist offices are the best ones to go to.

see i dunno whether to be all loner-y and avoid people or whether i should put myself in a position to force myself to interact with people and build my confidence

they are usually very friendly and patient so they would really be doing most of the talking. c:

and this is probably stupid, but i always look up the destinations on wikitravel + and look up the accomm on tripadvisor before i book.
