and yeah, she is but she really seems to want to give the impression that she isn't. she's also not a very nice person in general.
i went off her for a while bc when i was a bbnona i wrote some GASP fanfiction (fitz/fool ofc) and i got an incredibly nasty email from her about how personal her characters are to her and how by writing fanfiction about HER characters i was exactly the same as the people who bullied her every day when she was a child
and a lot of incredibly condescending crap about how IF i had come to her before i wrote fanfiction she could have explained to me why she wrote it that way and why writers to this and that and the other

apparently she sees fanfic as criticism. god knows what she does when she gets actual criticism.

i should have just stayed away tbh

i remember now i h8 robin hobb for being patronizing and ableist about mental illnesses

my fav authors for not sucking are ursula le guinn and c.j.cherryh but most of their stuff is kinda old now -not that that makes it bad or anything but it's nice to read new things occaisionally
