classism? idek

(Anonymous) 2012-04-14 04:48 am (UTC)(link)
apparently i am super classist because i don't respect a woman whose decides to stay at home to parent her kid because her husband and her will earn less at their prestigious careers if she hires a nanny to take care of them for part of a day.

my mom worked three jobs and i barely saw her, because that's what she had to do so that we could afford to eat. and we constantly had shit shut off because she could barely make ends meet. but she doesn't understand when i say that i consider parenting different than a career.

i can't argue with this person rn

i'm not really being that much of a jerk, am i?

(Anonymous) 2012-04-14 04:51 am (UTC)(link)
you're a huge asshole

why the fuck do you care what other people do in their own lives? parenting isn't a 'career', but it's certainly a JOB in its own right

because this person came and attacked me first about my family's lack of a choice in the matter? and then turned it all back on herself and her well-off family's decisions to be stay-at-home parents.

congrats ur all assholes

Re: classism? idek

(Anonymous) 2012-04-14 04:57 am (UTC)(link)
that doesnt mean you had to attack her family's choices, and the choices of so many other families. they were being an ass, and you decided to be an ass right back. gj.

two wrongs don't make a right

plus, you're attacking any other stay-at-home mother

... i'm confused

a woman is choosing to stay at home to parent her kid, and choosing to make less money

why do you care, if they're making enough money to live on?

my mom worked three jobs and i barely saw her

so you feel that other children shouldn't ever get to see their mothers either, even when the family can afford it? because that's what i'm getting out of your comment

(Anonymous) 2012-04-14 04:52 am (UTC)(link)
wtf?

why do you care what anyone else does as long as it works for them?

you're an asshole

you can't ~respect~ a woman who wants to stay home with her kids?

fuck off

Re: classism? idek

(Anonymous) 2012-04-14 04:57 am (UTC)(link)
no, i respect mothers who stay at home with their children. i don't respect mothers who cite the only reason they stay at home with them is because hiring a nanny to care for them would be 'too expensive' when they are making an absurd amount of money.
