and like that post didn’t completely decontextualize the “spinster movement,” to the extent that it was a thing, from the central issue of m i s o g y n y without which it is completely incoherent, rewriting women’s history and lgbt history all for the sake of claiming rights to a violent slur for people who don’t experience the homophobic and transphobic oppression it is part of, all while leaning heavily and uncritically on the works of a noted anti-“transgenderist” theorist
sidneyia:
“rewriting women’s history”
you’re acting like most of the people reblogging/referencing that post are not women ourselves
run the jewels is ruined by all the misogyny smh
i read somewhere that the difference between asperger's and ocd is that ppl with asperger's can stop whenever they want to.
and as a person with asperger's i think that's a little generous. i'd like to stop being obsessed with certain things because it causes me social embarrassment.
my brain: ooh a break in conversation, talk about the thing
me: no brain they don't care about the thing
my brain: maybe this time you can convince them. remember that long conversation you had about the thing. let's do it again.
me: *brings up the thing*
my friend: nona you know i don't want to know about the thing

where did these aces even come up with the idea of a unified spinster movement lql
“bi/pan people experience homophobia” OP don’t you mean that bi/pan people experience biphobia? cos like, homophobia is oppression based on being attracted to the same gender and also NOT being attracted to other genders (specifically what society considers ‘opposite gender’), lesbians aren’t just oppressed for being gay, we’re oppressed for being women who are exclusively attracted to women and therefore not attracted to men (something we share with asexual women in fact, the not being attracted to men part, which is why I think asexual+aromantic women who aren’t attracted to men should be part of LGBT* spaces and communities). Different same gender attracted people experience different forms of oppression, isn’t that the whole reason we have words like biphobia and lesbophobia?? Lesbians and bi women have some overlapping experiences ofc but it’s not a complete circle.
"like they themselves didn’t just learn everything they know about it [the 'spinster movement'] for the first time like three weeks ago from a tumblr post — which i know for a fact because “spinster movement” wasn’t really even a phrase before that post, which represents more than half of the ~800 google results for the phrase (try googling ‘“spinster movement” -tumblr’ to see mostly a bunch of pages about snowboards)"
