you've obviously never read much mainstream fantasy if you think tolkien is the worst black and white morality offender, compared to many other writers in the genre he's downright nuanced

by which i mean that a lot of fantasy is painfully black and white in morality

just bc the other standards are so low doesnt mean its not tiring hearing the same weak defenses when pointing out a flaw in his writing, esp since he popularized many fantasy tropes

i think a problem is that people always express themselves in extremes
