b/c i feel like it

i fucking hate it when people think the military is something to be proud about, or that we should kiss the exalted assholes of men in the forces. they aren't "giving their lives for you", they're giving their lives to maintain american hegemony on the bodies of civilians from other countries.

not to mention it just contributes to their sense of entitlement and belief that they can justify anything in the name of "protecting" the us, even shit like shooting down airliners because hey it might have been a military plane, right? which i guess at least exposes the lie that soldiers protect civilians with their lives, too bad no one gives a shit.

i fucking hate the nuremberg defense especially when talking to vets of afghanistan who talk about how 'troubled' they were carrying out order x or y but never thinking about ... not doing them?

i do also hate it when blame is only put on them because it should be on everyone up the fucking chain of command as well everyone knows damn well they encourage if not outright order it, but that doesn't mean i think less blame should be put on the soldier.

my country has mandatory military service (for men, voluntary for women) and tbh i'm kind of okay with our military in general

we mostly only have it in a defensive capacity though

military people are creepy as fuck. when i was 14 i did a mini-boot camp thing and wtf, those people... one officer started crying b/c he was so upset about norway not buying our planes. and then he got excited about (i think) the war in afghanistan b/c it meant more money from weapons sales
