I like the ppl who can just have fun with steampunk and don't get all XTREME GAME MASTER about how their gadgets are the most plausible despite being repainted nerf guns

yeah i've dressed steampunk before and it's fun, just like going to the renfaire dressed up is fun

what i don't get is like, dr xenophilius k. verne with his big briefcase full of "scientific curiosities", none of which are anything other than hunks of spraypainted plastic which MAYBE light up if you're lucky. it really feels like playing make believe with a child, i don't want to pretend that gear glued to a flowerpot is an ansible, i want to hang out with other people and eat twee 1910s sandwiches.
