lol my dad will pay for everything as long as i'm in school full time. i don't think it makes me spoiled or teaches me bad money management. i really, really appreciate it and because of him i'm able to do unpaid internships and other things i'd never otherwise have the opportunity to do. i have 2 volunteer jobs i love and am able to focus mostly on school, so i have a 4.0. idk i think it's kind of selfish to not pay for your kid's college if you can afford it, i don't believe you're doing them any favors by letting them struggle by on their own really.

awesome dad

wish all dads could afford to do this

that's what my friend thinks. she was horrified when she found out my parents charge me rent during the schoolyear

but i mean. they're paying for my schooling so it's not such a big deal imo. and they charge me rly cheap rent, so.

naryt

i don't think that's bad. it's making your kids pay for everything at 18 years old that just seems stupid to me, unless you can't afford to help them.

yeah, ia

(Anonymous) 2012-05-13 07:03 pm (UTC)(link)

(Anonymous) 2012-05-13 07:05 pm (UTC)(link)
i wish my parents could afford to do that for me tbqh

(Anonymous) 2012-05-13 07:06 pm (UTC)(link)
me too

(Anonymous) 2012-05-13 07:05 pm (UTC)(link)
i mean it's good that you appreciate it but that doesn't mean you aren't spoiled by getting it?

(Anonymous) 2012-05-13 07:06 pm (UTC)(link)
lol nona they're not being spoiled by it

they're fortunate that's all

(Anonymous) 2012-05-13 07:06 pm (UTC)(link)
idt you understand what the word "spoiled" means here, nona. bc yes. yes you are.

(Anonymous) 2012-05-13 07:07 pm (UTC)(link)

that is not what being spoiled means okay

god i feel sorry for any children you might have if you honestly think that's being spoiled

(Anonymous) 2012-05-13 07:08 pm (UTC)(link)
idt getting a reasonable amount of what the parents can afford is being spoiled

esp in cases like this where it's positive for the kid's futures rather than teaching them to not give a shit

(Anonymous) 2012-05-13 07:08 pm (UTC)(link)
no, i'm lucky for it but not spoiled. spoiled to me means like i expect my parents to pay for all that and am not incredibly grateful they do

"spoiled" is when you have a 26 year old manchild who plays videogames all day and you pay for all his shit and he gets mad if you don't. not having a kid who you will pay for things for as long as they work hard in school.
