idg middle class parents (probably ex attachment parents too) who refuse to help their kids out over anything ever

everyone i know who can't get even a little help from their parents can't go to school, even if it's completely covered by fin aid, b/c they have to work 2 or more minimum wage or worse jobs

is this rly what these ppl want for their kids

or does being middle class mean their kids can walk into wherever & get 12 dollars an hour?

idk. some people seem to think that people who expect parents to help out if they can want the parents to pay for ABSOLUTELY EVERYTHING. apparently their own kids either magically don't need assistance or their expect their kids not to need assistance which is lol.

it's like they never taught their kids independence so they're taking the throw them in the pool method @ 18

which only makes it worse

yeah it makes me so fucking pissed. like i do think parents have a responsibility to teach their kids about money, bc i know rich ppl who just have no. fucking. concept. of it, but that doesn't mean cutting them off and saying they're on their own forever, especially if you can help them out financially.

my gf's father is rich now, and he left their family when all of them were dirt dirt dirt poor when she was young and skimped on cs and now that she's an adult and he's rich and could easily have paid for it he refused to give her any financial assistance when she lost her job (she had to move in with me) or pay for university (she never went bc she couldn't afford it even with loans).

fuck him tbh.

tbh a lot of people are living in the past when it was possible to get a decent job right out the door and back when the economy wasn't complete shit and the wage gap wasn't as huge as it is now

at least in my experience it's mostly ppl who don't realize how bad things are now

can't they look at their own kids & see it's not working?

(Anonymous) 2012-05-13 06:54 pm (UTC)(link)
lol no bc as their kids, we're just not trying hard enough

i have heard that from both of my parents so many times it's ridiculous

yeah ia. i've heard so many older ppl complain about kids these days in ways that indicate they really don't get that most jobs now are pt with no benefits.
