could you talk to him directly? say "hi i'm really sorry, i've been seeing a counselor but i've been having a lot of trouble lately wrt mental health and this is why i've not been doing assignments and such, i'm really sorry, is there anything i can do to make this up" smth like that

i kind of did? like when i went back to class i told all my profs that i'd been ~having a lot of trouble lately~ but i haven't really been getting any better and still didn't do a lot of assignments :(
