what is the difference

nayrt again, but transsexual is generally used for people who surgically transition, whereas transgender is more of an umbrella term for any person whose gender doesn't match up with their aab gender

nayrt but yes

this seems to be sort of a regional thing and depends on who you're talking to. ime transsexual people are people who id as the gender opposite their aab gender; they're either men or women. this is why i said as a gq person i'm transgender, not transsexual

it's a bit of a regional thing and also a generational thing. i'm in my early twenties, and most of the similarly-aged trans people i know use transgender instead of transsexual. i also know a lot of people who dislike transsexual because it implies you're 'more real' if you can/do medically transition.
