i have a friend who sometimes when she talks about her family describes things that i would consider abusive (for example, the thing that reminded me that i wanted advice on this was the exorcism threads) but she doesn't indicate that she feels that way about them.

do you think when stuff like that comes up i should point out that what her parents did was not ok behaviour or leave it for her to say if she ever wants to talk about it that way? i feel awful every time i fake laugh at a 'cute' childhood story which is actually creepy as fuck but i don't think i should really be defining how she should feel about her experiences so idk.
