so i'm on seroquel and it's made me gain a buttload of weight and i feel kind of uncomfortable about it.

my mom wants me to try eating no carbs, no starch, no wheat for a month but i honestly don't think i can do it. i was a vegetarian up until recently, so i don't really like a lot of meat that isn't breaded. and i'm not allowed to eat things like carrots, or bananas.

idk it's the first day that i'm trying and i feel like a failure, but idk what to eat. and i feel like it probably won't work anyways so what's the point? i might as well just eat what i want to eat, and try to deal with the fact that i'm overweight now.

basically i feel like shit.

tbh that's a pretty overwhelming change to make all at once. what about just cutting out refined starches - no white bread or white rice, but wild rice and whole grain breads are ok

you'd have a lot better luck with something like that i think

i agree w/ this

much much easier to switch to a healthier alternative than cutting out all those types of foods

can you go back to being a vegetarian? that helped me lose weight p easily

honestly restrictive things where you cut out a lot of stuff w/o easing into it just screws you up b/c you have no clue what to eat

yeah, being a vegetarian again would be pretty easy. maybe i'll combine that + what bibas above said. and try to ease myself into it more instead of jumping in head first.

please try! i think you can do it. but of course you think you can't when you're trying to immediately switch to something so different than what you usually do.

good luck :)

biba the best thing to do is to talk to a dietician or a nutritionist. they will be able to tell you what you can eat and help you make a plan. no offense to moms in general but usually when it comes to diets they have no idea what they're talking about.

yeah honestly i wouldn't just listen to my mom unless she had a legit background or knowledge of nutrition

yeah my mom is kind of like... idk she reads books on these things and stuff and is always trying new fads and she ~doesn't trust doctors~ about this kind of thing and stuff.

other than that she's completely normal i swear.

i did want to bring this up with a doctor anyways tho.

aw i'm sure your mom has good intentions. i just get frustrated with my mom cause she's like I SAW ON DR. OZ THIS NEW DIET YOU JUST EAT CUCUMBERS FOR 72 HOURS.

idk i just think with nutrition, especially with women, it's so hard to get deficient in nutrients and such so i think its best to talk to a professional.

no, i don't mind biba. c:

300mg for depression. i've been on it for maybe six months? and so far i've gained about 30 pounds.

From my personal experience of medication caused weight gain: it is not easy to lose weight while you're on the medication. I couldn't lose the weight until I went off Remeron. I don't know if Seroquel is different, but you might not be able to get rid of the weight.

that's also what i'm worried about, and since this diet basically involves eating a lot of high fat foods, i'm worried that i'll gain even more.
