what do you mean by traditional? like old world media?

i'm a painter (well i have an art degree but i don't make much money as a painter so i'm a retail manager lol) and a lot of my work is inspired by my love of 50s/60s post-modernism and minimalism, ala frank stella.

i mean like uh, video and installation art lol, stuff that is contemporary and usually more conceptual

there's not much appreciation for it in most online arts communities, sadly

oh okay

i looooooove installation art but i don't really have the means to do it myself

i took a few video art classes in college but i was hilariously bad at it lol

actually, my stuff has recently started going in an installation direction and it's a lot easier to do than i thought. time-consuming, yeah, but you don't need to have huge set-ups, you can do things that are small and simple, hook up some speakers if you need an audio component, and you can get something really cool! simplicity can often work the best.

yeah, video art can easily be awful, but that's kind of what i love about it, because it does often purpsoefully break what expectations for video are, it pursues uncomfortable feelings through that and i really like that haha. plus i like the anti-aesthetic of a lot of it.
