i'm wondering if i could be pregnant at my job but it's not like i can ask because i don't want people to think i'm trying to get pregnant, when i'm not.

what do you mean?

what kind of job is it?

(Anonymous) 2012-04-07 05:00 pm (UTC)(link)
like, i've never had a job that's not a sit down job, and one day i was just wondering what would happen if like, i (or really any of the women) got pregnant. would we get transferred, and would we get transferred when we were pretty far along or what.

i'm a deli worker in a grocery store.

they can't fire you for being pregnant

assuming you don't have any pregnancy complications that would require bedrest, there isn't any reason that you couldn't continue to do your job (or most of your job duties excluding like, very heavy lifting) as long as your doctor is okay with it

and frankly grocery stores employ lots and lots of people, many of whom are women of child-bearing age, so you won't be the first pregnant employee and they will have protocols in place to deal with your pregnancy

okay this is reassuring.

yeah technically i could still do my job without doing heavy lifting and working no less than other ppl.

idk why i was so fixated on this, there's not even a guy in the picture, but i was worried on what would happen.

i'm wondering what would happen if i got pregnant at work

but i really don't want to ask my boss what happens becuase the last thing i need is ppl thinking 1) i'm pregnant or 2) i'm trying to get pregnant.

what do you do?

if you work in a medical office it should be confidential.

pregnant at your job?

like you're not pregnant anymore when you're not working?

(Anonymous) 2012-04-07 05:04 pm (UTC)(link)
i'm not pregnant but i'm wonder what would happen to me if i got pregnant.

like would they fire me or transfer me to a department that would work with less equipment.

(Anonymous) 2012-04-07 05:08 pm (UTC)(link)
technically they can't legally fire you for being pregnant in most places (even work-at-will states in the US still prohibit the firing of pregnant women for being pregnant, tho it can be tough to prove)

they're not legally allowed to fire you for getting/being pregnant.

if its dangerous to work in your department while pregnant though, they might transfer you to another department
