So, I know it’s fun to bash America or bash Americans because, well, it is. But making generalizations about the entirety of America based on a few people you know, or about what you hear in the media, is not only completely unfounded, but it’s hurtful too. We all know by now not to make generalizations about Africans based on the images we see in the news, or say that all Asians are different. In fact all generalizations are annoying, wrong, and unfounded, even when targeted at a privileged country and its citizens.

Here are a few quick tips not to be an asshole when talking about America if you aren’t American.
