i'm citing a book where, on the publication info page, it says:

[Publisher name] Edition, 2002

Copyright (c) 2001 [Author's name]

in the citation, i put the year as 2002, right? do i need to include the copyright thing at all? i tried bibme.org but it's entry for this book had the year put in as 20012002 which did not help me at all >:(

the date of the edition is considered important

2002 is what you'd use
