even discounting dirty tactics like gerrymandering & voter disenfranchisement, the system is set up in a way that favors republicans. the number of representatives in congress, the power of the senate, the electoral college, even election day itself, they're all fundamentally broken and ensures a rural conservative minority rules over a liberal urban majority. it won't change bc americans are obsessed with tradition and think everything has to stay the way it was in ye olden days and changing it would require republicans to vote to relinquish their own power
