most serial killers are sociopaths. it doesn't take abuse to turn one into a killer, all it takes is not getting spotted and treated as a child before they develop into violence. it's not your family's fault, and it sucks that people want to blame nurture in cases like this when sometimes that has very little to do with it.
have ppl found out and acted strangely to you about it?
i wish there was a group for people who have violent criminals in their family but all the ones i've found are state sanction for immediate family only when my entire family needs healing from this
we don't really tell people, and we're not close enough that you can make the connection with wikipedia or anything
my sister sold meth for a while though and people were really weird about that, esp bc she ran with some violent dudes off and on
and it was the same deal with her as your cousin, our parents were wonderful and raised us well. we didn't have a lot of money, but we weren't dirt poor or anything, either. three of us turned out great, and she hooked up with nortenos in the area and sold for them, no matter how many times my parents bailed her out of jail and tried to get her in rehab and stuff
fwiw, there are def other people out there with parents who are notorious for the wrong reasons. ted bundy has a daughter somewhere
in fact, this is going to sound really dumb, but you could try contacting ann rule. she has written about several serial killers and mass murderers, and has often had close contact with their families in the process. she might be able to get in touch with them and connect you. i hear she is pretty good about answering people who write to her, though it can take a while sometimes.
my father went off for no apparent reason during a camping trip with his three friends and shot them and killed two and me and mother had to move for similar reasons

ty, it happened over a decade ago when i was 7 so a lot of time has passed and theres not as much of an issue of gossip or whatever unless we go back to our hometown but its still surreal sometimes
