for humans u need close to 200 ppl to maintain a healthy population (160), if ur ok w/ ppl not having a choice for who they have bbs with u can go as low as 80 but any smaller than that and ur asking for trouble
u definitely can't do that w/ 2 ppl, but the smallest population bottleneck i know of that's started to bounce back is black robins, which were down to 5 individuals. but bringing them back from that tiny population did have unintended consequences (almost half of the females couldn't incubate properly bc of a defective gene) that they're still trying to fix (it's down to 10% now)

WELP. while writing a letter of recommendation i made a typo: "He was the incest guy in the office"
