off the top of my head, some favorites but they're all different kinds of sad imo

- a constellation of vital phenomena (touching sad)
- all my puny sorrows (funny sad)
- the blazing world (frustrated sad)

acovp is about people affected by the chechen war. even tho a little girl and a kind but dumb man seem to be the central characters at first, the reason i recommend it is bc of the relationship between two sisters. that story is the heart of the book imo

amps is also about the relationship between sisters above all. major tw for suicide. one is extremely suicidal and the other is trying to save her, and the book is very compassionate towards both characters

tbw is about an artist who's frustrated by how sexist the art world is. she becomes obsessed with pulling one over on art critics bc she feels wronged and overlooked and was never taken seriously just bc she was a woman, so she starts releasing work under male names and hires men to act as a front for her.

if you're willing to give my taste another try, i highly rec all my puny sorrows if you don't mind the tw. i promise it's a lot more fast-paced and humorous than the others

is the blazing world that book by that really weird 17th century noblewoman who would wake up in the middle of the night and dictate her weird stories to her servants?
