ya is not a genre it’s a marketing term the presence of books with problematic romances in ya does not make ya problematic, it makes those books problematic. most problems that can be found in ya lit can also be found in adult lit, they are just accepted easier there because people enjoy shitting on things teenage girls like more.
the problem i have with ya is that all the prose is the same. it's like everything was written by one very overzealous writer
