tbh it's both the fact americans love to be overdramatic on top of having no concept of what it's like outside their own bubble. they're just too self-absorbed to realize what they're saying. (that and srsly hyperbole over every goddamn thing bc it makes them feel more enlightened to take it 10 steps further than need be) they're also so distanced from what they do in other countries that they don't have to think about it or have a frame of reference.

i got that when i said i liked that bob and linda seemed to actually be a happy married couple. i got nonas yelling at me for calling it progressive when all is said was that it was a nice change of pace from the usual sitcom where you can't figure out why the wife is married to the husband.
