*sighs quietly* must we go through this crap every time?

Alright. You want an Asian female engineer who kicks ass and is also a girly girl?

Meet Winry Rockbell, Automail Engineer, from Fullmetal Alchemist. Made her first piece of automail when she was eleven years old. Absolute prodigy; incredibly intelligent, incredibly passionate, and ridiculously geeky (Edward’s idea of cheering her up was taking her to a tool shop and saying she could have whatever she wanted; it worked). She also wears pretty dresses and has long hair and does her work in a tube top on occasion.

...

They’re both very similar, but Mako’s skin tone is more brown while Asami’s is more pink, which is to be expected since Mako is explicitly biracial (Fire Nation/Earth Kingdom) and Asami is (as far as we know) of pure Fire Nation Heritage. It is MAKO that is mixed, not Asami.

Seriously. Cut the crap. Stop thinking Asami is special. She is not special. She is a good character (who deserved better), but she is not something revolutionary or off-the-charts. She is a beautiful, smart engineer who becomes CEO of her father’s company. There are dozens of female engineers and female characters in STEM fields, and there are several female CEOs and TONS of female leaders. There are other characters like her (and many that were done far better and given better recognition in-show than her).
