tbh i don't understand how any woman can be xtian

or a member of any judeo-christian religion

(Anonymous) 2013-09-01 11:51 pm (UTC)(link)
indoctrination and self-hatred

(Anonymous) 2013-09-01 11:53 pm (UTC)(link)

(Anonymous) 2013-09-01 11:51 pm (UTC)(link)
i dont understand why people say xtian

(Anonymous) 2013-09-01 11:52 pm (UTC)(link)
b/c it's the shorthand for christian

y do u think people call christmas xmas

(Anonymous) 2013-09-01 11:53 pm (UTC)(link)
they dont call it xtmas is my point

(Anonymous) 2013-09-01 11:54 pm (UTC)(link)
the greek abbreviation is actually Xt, lol

replacing Christ with the abbreviation Xt (from Ancient Greek Χ (Ch, the letter chi), the first letter of Χριστός (Christós, “Christ”) + t, the last letter of "Christ").

(Anonymous) 2013-09-01 11:56 pm (UTC)(link)
then why dont we call it xtmas

(Anonymous) 2013-09-01 11:57 pm (UTC)(link)
i think that Xt gradually morphed into just X but i could be misremembering

(Anonymous) 2013-09-01 11:53 pm (UTC)(link)
ancient greek basically

(Anonymous) 2013-09-01 11:54 pm (UTC)(link)
its replacing christ

not chris

so it should be xian

(Anonymous) 2013-09-01 11:55 pm (UTC)(link)
1755, preceded by earlier forms such as X'temmas (1551) and Old English Χp̃es mæssa (1100), from Christmas, replacing Christ by abbreviation X, from Ancient Greek Χ (Ch, “(letter chi)”), from Χριστός (Christós, “Christ”). Surface analysis X (“Christ”) +‎ -mas (“holiday”). In popular use since late 19th century.

idk does this explaing it better

(Anonymous) 2013-09-01 11:56 pm (UTC)(link)
Xt is Christ but it kind of morphed into just X over time

Xmas is because -mas means holiday

(Anonymous) 2013-09-01 11:58 pm (UTC)(link)
XP is also christ

(Anonymous) 2013-09-01 11:54 pm (UTC)(link)
x is an abbreviation of "christ"

it should more properly be "xian" igss but "xtian" is more understandable shorthand

to be human is to hold contradicting views simultaneously

tw: mi

(Anonymous) 2013-09-01 11:54 pm (UTC)(link)
well, when i was really struggling with my ocd i got to a point where i hated myself and wanted to punish myself

and that's when i joined rcia for like eight months until i got some psychological help

so personal experience says extreme self-hatred

Re: tw: mi

wow that's rough

like i'm not being sarcastic, joining a religion to punish yourself is really rough

hope u better

i didn't realize that's what i was doing at first, until i realized i was spending more time praying for forgiveness for "sins" (mostly obsessive/intrusive thoughts) than literally anything else

i am doing better, but i'm really scared of slipping back into that again. and tbh after talking to other people with religious/superstitious ocd, i wouldn't be surprised if that's the case for some of the really devout people in catholicism. or any religion where sin or similar concepts are a component.
