if it was just a friendly thing with no opportunity whatsoever for networking/etc then yes, but lbr they're going to get some advice/mentoring that black female students wont' be getting.
which honestly makes no sense to me since afaik black women are generally doing better academically than black men are but ppl aren't really trying to groom black women for business success/leadership roles.
the email was vague but since it's with a professor i'm guessing there's going to be some kind of mentoring, advice, and hook ups involved
i think the thought process might've been well black men aren't doing as well as black women academically so this is a justified dinner but like that doesn't mean black women don't need guidance? especially in my environment and we never get special dinners or events held by staff
