she doesn't know about your job, biba, she's just shooting her mouth off. try not to worry you've got this.

thanks nona

the more i think about it, the more stupid it is. she's never worked in this sort of job before, and i know she always has to 'suggest' some 'improvement' no matter what, and a lot of my clothes are the same or similar to clothes i was already using in outfits at my last job

but if she was going to listen, why couldn't she just be pleased?

my mom did this with the job I got a few months ago, even though her last job was 40 years ago in a different field. DAYS AND DAYS of being told that trousers were inappropriate/telling me my shoes would get me fired

spoilers they didn't. it's cool that you're starting on a casual day though, you'll be comfy when you meet people

I hope she takes a less anxious approach to your job biba, some people just always need to feel like they're 'helping' even if they're just making unnecessary fuss

yeah, thanks biba, it feels a lot better just to have had this chat, silly as that seems

i kind of wish i could set her some red herring task to worry about, like when the terrorism alert was high and she planned and bought emergency rations to store away that we could survive on for a week without power

thanks for this: i think i can get to sleep now

ugh my mom did this too. it's like, mom, the last time you had a job was 1988 and you quit because you were embarrassed to be showing when you were pregnant with my sister. i think i understand what business casual means
