has anyone ever thought about how acephobic and ace erasing it is that the word we use to define attraction/orientation is “sexuality”?
The rhetoric around the 'debauched' West is.... complicated. It's definitely used as a way to slut shame and fuels homophobia and transphobia, but it exists for a reason. The idea of the 'emancipated woman' has a lot of sexual baggage tied to it. To take the example of FEMEN, the idea that modest dress means one is automatically oppressed ties into the idea that one has to be overtly sexual (which often means talking about and expressing sexuality in a very white, Western way) in order to be 'liberated.' Which, obviously, is alienating and really insulting. Women from the global south are already dealing with their own sexual and cultural biases, both on a personal and societal level. Issues that are implicitly tied into colonisation and the sexual exploitation of women by colonizers both now and in the past. The West has interfered and oppressed these women for centuries, it's understandable why they are automatically suspicious and distrustful of Western ideas around sexuality and gender.
And if I dont personally feel bad by the content - does that make me a bad person? Insensitive? Am I immune to my own trauma, repressed?

I've known for a while that this guy isn't competent. He let me have bronchitis for three months, for God's sake. He kept saying I don't need antibiotics. When a visit to another doctor (and a prescription for antibiotics) cleared it up in a week, he said it was "a coincidence". I kid you not.
