Demis and grays who call themselves asexual are appropriating a term for their own sake, and doing this makes things harder for asexuals because grays and demis become the living embodiment of that hated line, “You just need to meet the right person!”
Bisexuality and demisexuality are not good comparisons.
Bisexuality is being attracted to man and women.
Demisexuality, the way demis put it, is being both sexual and asexual, asexual until the right circumstances.
But being both sexual and asexual is a contradiction. Once you feel sexual attraction, you aren’t ace.
But somehow, by calling oneself gray or demi, one can get a free pass. Not as a friend or ally, they get treated like a real ace. They can become voices of authority in the community. They can come in and complain with us about the bias in the sexual world, and then turn around and enforce those biases.
This should not be acceptable and aces have every right to complain.
