I had my 7th grade students perform a vocabulary revue, in which they write and peform short plays showcasing the vocabulary they have been studying. One of the plays ended with two male characters being married without so much as a hint of snideness or of it being a punchline. I'm proud of my students. :')

just got out of a pchem exam and i am seriously scared
it was so easy. we got all the equations we needed, there was one problem where the practice exam had two variables but this only had one, and there was actually a question on how to draw a fluorescence spectrometer

I'm not debating the fact that these things happen; I'm arguing that overall, this episode of House was really, really awful from an asexual perspective. Asexuality was not presented as a valid sexual orientation; it was presented as a lie and a disorder. For a group as small and under-represented as ours, the consequences of this are likely to be disastrous. Like it or not, a lot of people DO get their information about the world from shows like House. It's more entertaining than actual research, and allows them to fool themselves into thinking they're watching something somewhat educational, like when some folks eat junk food with fruit juice in the ingredients and pretend it's a serving of fruit. Those folks have now been told that asexuals are either sick, lying, or dead, and chances are they believe it. Confronted with an actual, asexual person, they're probably going to act like enormous jerks, and it is going to suck for whatever poor asexual soul is stuck dealing with them.
