probably gonna get dogpiled here but i kinda hate how ppl who aren't bi always assume that bi ppl can just ~choose to be in a str8 relationship.

like yes i could force myself to repress all same-sex attraction, but so could a gay person.

ia but I get kinda annoyed that the bi discourse turns into 'well I may pass as straight and have no other relationship in my life BUT POINTING THAT OUT IS ERASING'

(Anonymous) 2012-05-16 04:01 pm (UTC)(link)
yeah i get that but a few dumbalines =/= all bi ppl, even ones in het relationships

oh definitely and I think the problems facing bi people trying to find a community should be addressed, as well as the groce attitudes a lot of other queer people have internalized about bisexuals.

but instead we have to talk about how sad it is that people look at a woman and man holding hands and don't think WOW SO QUEER

biba i'm bi too and i don't like that assumption, but i'm really uncomfortable with that comparison

i could repress all same-sex attraction without repressing all the attraction i experience; the same doesn't apply if you're gay

honestly i'm ok with that comparison, because it's not like i'm attracted to every fucking dude i see. i may have been attracted to one guy, once, or a couple of guys, but if i'm currently attracted to women then yeah, i'm repressing all my attraction.

i'm bi and yeah, attitudes towards bi ppl are shitty but stuff like bfp says are just straight up wrong. woman/man relationships are privileged regardless of orientation. a closeted gay man with a woman will suffer from internalized homophobia but will still have the institutional and societal privilege of appearing straight
