i don't disagree with you, but most of fandom isn't about deep metatextual analysis it is about who i find hot and how can i sex them up in my fanfic. sure, write all the essays you want about the sexism of joss whedon in the avengers, but most of avengers fandom who probably won't even bother to read the essay is going to go yep, ur right, and then keep writing m/m slash.
