sometimes when i'm feeling really desperate i pinch myself with an old-fashioned wooden clothes pin until the skin turns white and it leaves indents

i've never wanted to cut myself though. it seems like it would be too risky or involve too much care/clean up.

is this a common form of si? i haven't really looked online (for fear of triggering) but nobody else i know irl seems to do this
