i graduated in 08 and my town hadn't had home ec as part of the curriculum for almost 10 years by then

it was gotten rid of completely two years before i started middle school bc the schools budgets were cut bc of bad scores on the no child left behind tests

i didn't take home ec (iirc it wasn't available to students who were planning to go to college; for that "track" they took out some classes and added others and idk why home ec got cut), but i had health class and child development. together those covered the same stuff as home ec would have
