a good, sad disturbing book: cruddy by lynda barry
a really bad disturbing book: haunted by chuck whatshishuk (i read it after a coworker linked me to "guts" online)

i also read "hey nostradamus" by douglas coupland when i was on a disturbing book kick, it's about a school shooting & its aftermath. the first two parts were pretty disturbing; the second two were more forgettable. i don't really recommend it unless you're interested in that topic
