i know a lot of people scoff at it and some people do go too far excusing bad actions, but i do get why people want to woobify or redeem bad guys. like you see moments when they're human or relatable and you just want to go on from there and imagine what it would be like if they went a different way, especially when it comes to self-destructive characters. i'm starting to even enjoy some of that fic that fandom hates. am i being a dumb fan?

lol no nona. i also get this way sometimes. i think ppl call this guilty pleasure or 'id fic' if they wanna be pretentious. you know it's ridiculous and probably not particularly believable, but you still fucking love it and search it out in all its forms

nah, it's understandable and tbh i see the appeal of wanting to see certain characters who are generally terrible people do well or turn out alright when there's some element of them that you really connect with for whatever reason. i only really take issue with it when it comes to the point of actually justifying or validating legit terrible stuff that they did when that stuff's just not okay. otherwise have fun with it, that's what fandom's for.

yeah i don't think people should condone bad shit but a lot of fans who are more mature or w/e know this and manage to write things that work for me so i'm okay with making them sympathetic in fic. it hits all my buttons so hard.
