nayrt and it's not ya but i rly enjoyed nervous conditions by tsitsi dangarembga. it's set in 1960's rhodesia (zimbabwe) just before the revolution, and it's a coming-of-age tale about a girl trying to get her education, navigate her relationships w/ her family around racism and sexism and colonialism, etc. there are a bunch of different women in her family, and following their relationships & stories is really interesting
