Canon has never ruined a ship for me. Ever. I tend to like non-canon pairings with at least one messy, morally ambiguous character, so I am experienced in rewriting what I don't like inside my head. Like, thirty years' worth of experience. Canon is, eh, more what you'd call guidelines.
