The dairy cow cleared an electric fence to escape her Bavarian farm in May 2011. After a near-collision with a police car, local officials labelled her a public danger.
The search for the errant bovine included wanted posters, permission to shoot her on sight, international media pressure to spare her, and elaborate schemes to lure her back into captivity.
But Yvonne didn't respond to the breeding bull with the baritone moo, the use of her own calf as bait or the Swiss animal whisperer that tried to contact her telepathically.
She spent three months on the run before showing up on a farm in the Muehldorf area, about 80 kilometres east of Munich.
Yvonne now lives in an animal sanctuary where she is safe from the slaughter house that was to be her original destination.
