my cat's eighteen and we have to lock her up in my parents' room(+bedroom+walkin closet) all day with her litterbox and water and food bc she's deaf, mostly blind, and our other cat will bully her and eat all her food if we leave them alone together and we're usually gone all day
she seems pretty happy
the situation you're describing here sounds p similar and kitty sounds happy
