can anyone recommend a GOOD version of the ramayana to read? my professor assigned narayan's shorten/novelized format of it for class and i'm nearly halfway into the book and still have no idea what the hell is going on exactly. the novelization is really poor and confusing?

professor gave me the ok to switch to a different version so long as i could write a report on it, but i don't know what's a good one to choose.
