my roommate, her fiancee, and i moved (I'm renting from them for six months while I finish school). their cat is 16 years old and has cat senility and pretty much always would sleep in their closet and under the bed. The cat is also prone to peeing in the carpet, so when the house they decided we were moving into had a playhouse with doors and windows on the patio, they decided to make it the cat's house.
they put a carpet inside and a plush bed and food and water. The house is in the shade, so it doesn't get warm, and I got a disc that we microwave and put under the cat's bed at night to keep her warm. during the day we open the cat's house and she hangs out on the patio. I spend an hour or so with her when i get home from work and she sits on my lap while i grade papers, but somehow i feel really guilty about this.
my roommate says it's like we put her in a home and while it isn't as nice as it was once for her, it's still fine and she's still cared for.
